It’s coming. 30. I’ve been told that your 30’s are better than your 20’s. I am looking forward to them. However, I would like to have a meaningful 29th birthday in memory of my twenties before laying them to rest. Of course this is all silly bullshit, but hey, at least I’m owning up to that.
My birthday is on the 12th, so the following Saturday the hubs and I are heading north to visit Indiana Dunes. He has never been, and it’s been many moons since I last visited. ROADTRIP. Yes.
While we are up there, we plan on swinging by the Old Sheriff’s House. Apparently John Dillinger broke out of this jail in Crown Point, and they give tours for $5. Spoooooky.
We will then hit up the Albanese Confectionery. This place claims to have the world’s best gummies and candy. They have 12 flavors of gummy bears, a lot of sugar free options (including peach rings! What!), and a ton of things covered in chocolate. Sign. Me. Up.
Next we will travel to our ultimate destination: The Dunes.
Hiking shoes: check. Sandcastle supplies: check. Brand new kite: check. If the dunes are as awesome as I remember, we should have a splendid time… assuming we don’t get swallowed by a sinkhole.
After catching the sunset, we will head on over to Cool Springs Inn. From the reviews, it seems like the owners are very friendly and the atmosphere is unique. A couple of complaints here and there, but for the price, we’ll deal.
Before heading home the next day, we’re going to pop over to South Bend to check out the Center for History.
Oliver Mansion is the main feature of the Center for History. 38 rooms, 3 floors 14 fireplaces… it looks stunning. I can’t wait to take a tour and learn all about it.
Here ends our adventure, as we head back home to take care of our darling little hedgies.
